Merry Christmas Eve! I hope that you all are having a wonderful holiday season so far! It's been a lovely few days over here. Yesterday was our five year anniversary and we celebrated it a day early by signing up for a spa day for two in Pigeon Forge. It was the first time my husband had ever had a manicure, pedicure, massage, or facial, but we both had a good time and had fun hanging out in bathrobes all day getting pampered :) The spa day was his idea for how we should celebrate this year's anniversary and it's my turn to pick something for next year, so I have to get to thinking!
We are also gearing up for a day of cooking and relaxation today. My husband is working this week and on-call through Christmas, so we are spending Christmas by ourselves for the first time. But we will certainly make it count!
The refrigerator is full of food, the Christmas tree is lit, and our stockings ready to be opened tomorrow! This year is also the first year we've decided to have a "stocking showdown," a competition in which we try to give each other the best stocking. We've come up with rules such as a set amount that we can't go under or over and have certain categories that we can win--like most number of things in a stocking, the heaviest overall item, the best overall item, and so on. We made a stipulation that all the items have to be good (like you can't just include a brick for the heaviest item award), and I think I've done pretty well this year. He thinks he has me beat, too, so we've been talking our stockings up these past few days and are very eager to see who wins!
It's a tradition that I think we will definitely continue, because it's been fun picking stuff out for him, and trying to win each category. There's no prize, but as you can probably tell, both of us are very competitive, so it's been a lot of fun for us!
We are also going to skype with family and I'm looking forward to seeing all our friends and family from all over the world. It's amazing how much technology can do, including bringing family close who live so far away. Truly something special!
I hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas tomorrow!
