Whew, my brain is tired, but I wanted to write a little quick something here before too much time passed from when I last posted. Been working on AWP research, but then had a book review come back for revisions, so worked on that and sent it in just a few moments ago. The new review should be out in Stirring: A Literary Collection's new issue, out in just a few days, so stay tuned!
I also scheduled my dissertation defense! March 13th at 3:15 PM. I walked the official forms over to the graduate school yesterday and received the pass/fail signature form in my email this morning, so it's finally happening, folks! Hard to believe it's all coming to an end. I've been in school my entire life, so it's going to be strange not being a student anymore.
Oh, and I think I jinxed myself in my last post about not having any agent news, because not even an hour after I wrote that, I got an email from the first agent who requested the full manuscript (15 minutes after I sent the query)! I was in the middle of office hours and was browsing my email on my phone and only saw the first line before I clicked on it. It said thank you for sending the manuscript...and then, I sighed and slumped in my seat a little bit, because it was looking like a rejection.
But then I saw the words "beautifully written" and "really enjoying it" and I just about choked!
She sent it over to another agent at her agency for a second look, so there is still some waiting ahead, but I couldn't text my husband fast enough! Lots of all caps and lots of exclamation points in those texts!
Lots of excitement :) But for now, I should distract myself again, so I don't think about it too much. There is more research to do, people to interview for papers, and a house to clean. My grandmother (the inspiring lady I talk about here) is coming to stay with us on Sunday, too, and I simply can't wait!
